Tencel™
Tencel™ is the brand name owned by the company Lenzing Fibers for an improved version (environmentally speaking) of a fiber generically called lyocell. Tencel™ is a fiber of natural origin, made from eucalyptus wood pulp. Its origins and its manufacturing process make it a sustainable material: eucalyptus grows quickly, it does not need irrigation water or pesticides or other toxic products. The fiber comes from sustainably managed forest plantations (FSC or PEFC labeled).
The manufacturing process is done using water and a natural, non-toxic and biodegradable solvent (NMMO), which is recycled in a closed circuit with 99.7% recovered. This process does not release any toxic vapour into the atmosphere and uses 20 times less water than cotton. It was awarded the “European Award for the Environment” for its environmental performance™
THE LENZING MODAL™
Lenzing Modal™ is very similar to Tencel™ both in terms of its properties (hypoallergenic, antibacterial, etc.) and its origin: it is made from beech wood pulp. They are also very close in terms of manufacturing, the difference lies in the solvent used. The solvent used for Modal™ is sodium sulphate, it is non-organic but non-toxic. In the case of Modal™, up to 95% of the solvent is recovered and recycled in other industries, while the solvent used for Tencel™ is reinjected into its own manufacturing process.
Just like Tencel™, the CO2 footprint of Modal™ is neutral thanks to the carbon compensation involved in the regeneration of the trees necessary for its manufacture. Both materials are ecological but Tencel™ is recognized as the most effective fiber in terms of eco-responsible production
THE LENZING ECOVERO™
Ecovero™ is a new material produced by the Austrian company Lenzing. It is 100% recyclable and biodegradable, and offers a sustainable alternative to traditional viscose. Its manufacturing is similar to Tencel, as it is also produced from wood pulp and a solvent. The wood required for its production comes from sustainable forests, certified FSC or PEFC.
Its transformation process complies with the strict standards imposed by the EU Eco Label, guaranteeing low environmental impact at every stage, from raw material to product end-of-life. What's more, Ecovero™ generates 50% less water consumption than traditional viscose, and 50% fewer CO2 emissions throughout the manufacturing process.™
LINEN
Grown without pesticides, GMOs or chemical fertilizers, flax is one of the most ecological fibers. It does not need irrigation, respects the principle of crop rotation and its transformation is done by mechanical process without toxic products and all reusable.
Its absorption capacity allows your clothes to breathe thanks to its antiperspirant effect. Linen is a must for sensitive skin thanks to its hypoallergenic and antibacterial properties. It is also 3 times stronger than cotton.
Wool
Wool is the number one fiber to protect yourself from the cold. Thanks to its thermo and hydro-regulating properties, wool keeps the body in ideal thermal comfort: it protects from the cold, regulates humidity and insulates from heat.
We work with two types of wool: natural merino wool and recycled merino wool. They come from Italian merino sheep and their yarn is made in Italy. Natural merino wool comes from merino sheep from extensive farms where animal welfare is paramount. The recycled wool comes from wool fiber scraps from their own factory. It is the only recycled wool in Europe that is made from 100% natural wool, therefore containing no other synthetic mixed fibers.
